Specially commissioned to mark the Centenary of Federation, Way Out West is based on the actual stories of the people of the west, as recorded by the award-winning writing team of Margery and Michael Forde. PRODUCTION HISTORY First produced by the QLD Performing Arts Trust in association with La Boite Theatre for the Centenary of Federation QLD, and toured Western Queensland. PLAYWRIGHT Margery and Michael Forde are an award-winning writing team and have individually and collectively contributed to Queensland’s proud theatre history. For La Boite Theatre Company they co-wrote Milo’s Wake (Winner of the 2001 New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award, AWGIE Award nominee) Still Standing, Way Out West and James and Johnno. In 2009 Margery and Michael were commissioned by Classic Radio 4MBS to write Cribbie, playing a sell-out season at Metro Arts in Brisbane. In 2011 they co-wrote the book and lyrics for Behind the Cane a music theatre production for Queensland Music Festival.
